MapleStory: Fun, but is it Too Much?

Online multiplayer gaming with others is fun and usually suitable for everyone, depending on how safe it is. One game, called MapleStory (MS), is especially well-known. MapleStory is an online MMORPG (Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game) game, created by Nexon, made for teens age 13 and older to meet new buddies, hang out, and level up.

It's got what most role-playing games have. You start with a character on a low level, and you train the character by fighting monsters with your own weapons. You can also accessorize with your own type of clothes and items. The currency in MS is called "mesos" which is earned by trading items or killing monsters and getting what they drop.

Items can vary from the illbi stars, which are worth well over 10 million mesos or a snail shell, which is hardly worth 2 mesos. Mesos are generally hard to get, and it takes a lot of time just to get 1 million mesos. Many people just buy mesos with NX Cash.

Just like how Neopets has "Neocash" or Club Penguin has "membership", you buy NX (NeXon) Cash with real money to get special clothes, items, and change your hair and eyes. You can also get "married" or make a shop to sell your items with NX Cash. One of the most popular things to buy is a pet. Pets can be a puppy or a baby dragon-which can grow to an adult dragon later-, a pig, robot, Yeti, or more.

Once you get to level 10, you can choose one of 4 classes: thief, magician, archer, warrior. Each of them has their pros and cons. For example, the warrior has an abundance of HP (or Hit Points) and strength but can only hit monsters up close and doesn't have very much dexerity. After that, once you get to level 30, you can advance to an even higher job of the one you already have. Like how the magician can become an Ice/Lightning Wizard, Fire/Poison Wizard, or Cleric.

Currently the highest leveled character in the whole game is level 200. After getting to level 30, there are still a few more job advancements before you reach your limit. All this sounds fun and convincing. But has it gone too far?

Maple Story Review - An Online Virtual World Populated With Adorable Monsters and Interesting Quests

Posted on November 22, 2009 - 7:27 PM
Tagged as: Maplestory Accountmaplestory mesosmaplestory powerleveling
Maple Story is an online virtual world/game developed by the makers of games like Sugar Rush, Combat Arms, and Audition. Maple Story is a two dimensional side-scrolling online game based in a virtual world called the Maple world. The game has been a huge commercial success, and has attracted close to 50 million users till date.

At the beginning of the game, each player has to pick a profession for himself. A player can be a warrior, thief, magician, bowman or pirate. After picking the profession and customizing the character, you can set out on your quests, collect points, progress to higher levels - quite like a regular Role Playing Game (RPG). The level of customization allowed by Maple Story is quite high, and one can spend hours choosing from the myriad of options at your disposal.

The chief aim of Maple Story, like any other RPG, is to complete quests and collect points to reach higher character levels. To earn more points, every user has to kill different monsters. However, these monsters are so adorable that you might actually feel bad killing them. In fact, the whole game plays heavily on the cute quotient.

It is rather ironical that Maple Story really doesn't have a very strong story line. It starts off well but after a certain point of time, there is no concrete sense of direction in the story. Initially, the users are hooked on to the game because of their curiosity to experience the higher levels. But once this anticipation goes away, the interest also wears off as the quests tend to get a little repetitive.

As is mentioned earlier, Maple Story has a heavy cute factor working in its favor. This "cute factor" can, in fact, make up for the repetitive quests and the lackluster story line. On the other hand, this sometimes becomes the game's weakness as it becomes annoyingly cute after some time, more so with hardcore gamers, who expect more out of a game than mere cuteness.

The Maple Story has characteristically different controls. Nearly the whole game is played using the keyboard; the mouse has very limited usage. The controls are very convenient and easy to get used to. The best part is that the game allows the users to customize the controls according to their comfort.

The Maple Story is backed by a strong sense of social community. The user might be surprised to find the map of the maple world thronged with users. This presence of community can either create a sense of healthy competition or on the flip side, it can also lead to hostility. Even inside the game, users can create their own houses and have fun with friends.

No game is complete without a technically sound mechanism. Despite the repetitive quests and the dull story line, Maple Story shines brightly in the graphics department. Right from the cute monsters to the amiable backgrounds, everything has a vivacious, luxurious attention to detail. Even though this is primarily an action based game, the environment still manages to present something eye catching and soothing to the players.

The sound is equally great. The game has a catchy background score, so much so that you might actually find yourself humming the tune unconsciously. The sound effects only supplement the cute quotient. The sad shrieks of the monsters when they are killed and many such effects make the game more enjoyable and likeable.

The Maple Story is a web based game and can be played free of cost online. However, a lot of features including customizations have to be paid for separately. The game does not require very advanced technical requirements on the PC, making it hassle free to play and download.

So, in spite of the minor story and game plan related problems, the Maple Story comes highly recommended. Backed by excellent technical specifications, it has the potential to be very addictive, is interesting and extremely enjoyable!

A Simple Guide to Scamming in Maplestory

Posted on November 20, 2009 - 7:58 PM
Tagged as: Maplestory Accountmaplestory mesosMapl
This is the only guide I have ever seen that actually teaches u how to Scam. Scamming is “a scheme to cheat or defraud of money or property”. If someone tricks you into to giving them your money or part of your property, you have been scammed.

Remember: Every Scam has its drawback.

Common Scams and How to do Them:

Buying NX Scam:

Difficulty: Medium

Whats bad about it? People rarely buy NX from random people, and they mostly higher levels, which makes it harder for you to scam.

This is a type of scam that is easy to fall for, and easy to perform. First, go the FM. Next start Spamming S>NX for 1:10 ratio, or look for someone buying NX. You will go to a random CC, and tell pay first. Once play first go the Trade Shop, or Cash Shop, and wait there for 10min or more. Read a book, do Homework, or do something atleast to kill time. Once its been a reasonable amount of time, exit out of the MTS, or CS. If they are not there, repeat the process and scam more. If they are still waiting, log off immediately.

-Tips:

It is recommended to do this with a Character with NX. This will help the buyer assume you actually have the NX, and will not scam.

If you somehow cannot get any NX, it is recommended to this on a higher level character. A NX Buyer will suspect a Lv20 Scamming than a Lv80.

If they refuse to pay first, just go back and find another person.

-Variations:

Some other ways u can do this, is when u actually have some NX. If the buyer is suspicious, he might say ill buy just 1k for 10m, to see if you scam. Once he has got teh 1knx ,and you have received your 10m, he will know that you are not a scammer. They will know now, and buy 15k nx. They trade you 150m, and you accept. Log off is the best thing to do now.

Whats bad about it? Lots of Defame, can get boring, and if you are not careful, you could get ripped off. (11m for steelys)

This is the easiest Scam to perform. I have earned 60m in a few hours just by this scam. However, you will need atleast 11.11m to do it. The main idea of this is scam is to trick someone to selling you their steelys for 1.1m. Sounds impossible right? Wrong. Ill tell u how.

First, and the most important part of the Scam, is to fill up your “Use” items in your inventory. This will insure that no matter what happens, you cannot buy the steelys AT FIRST. Make sure ur Use slots are filled with Potions, scrolls, Stars, arrows or whatever. Next, start spamming B>Steely 11m. You should get a trade request in this than 1min. The following conversation will probally happen.

Maplestory Dragon Knight: Dragon Blood vs Warrior Elixers

Posted on November 19, 2009 - 7:43 PM
Tagged as: Maplestory Accountmaplestory mesosmaplestory powerleveling
As a Maplestory player, you need some game guides to enhance your character's skills. So i collect lots of MMORPG guides from network. Of course, you can post your guides or tips at our website.
The choice of of whether maxing Dragon Blood has always been a great controversy.
However, this section is dedicated in explaining the Pros and Cons of Dragon Blood, and whether it is an applicable choice for each build.Something that everybody should remember is that Beholder's Buff does NOT stack with Dragon Blood!

Dragon Blood
Level 20: MP -24 HP -20 every 4 seconds; Attack +12 for 160 seconds

Warrior Elixers
5000 meso each; Attack +12 for 480 seconds

First of all, I'd like to point out that the HP drain is very negligible. Seeing as how we're all Dragon Knights who receive thousands of damage, what's the matter with only losing 800?

Next, going with Dragon Blood instead of Warrior Elixers will save you mesos, but not to the point where it'll be noticable in the short run.

As said before:

Anoymonous said: "If you can't afford Warrior Elixers, you've got a bigger problem."

For 1 Warrior Elixer, it is equal to casting Dragon Blood 3 times.
5K for 8 minutes vs. -172 MP -2.4K HP from Dragon Blood.
Obviously, you would heal much more than just 2.4K HP with a single honster, which costs 2.8K meso.

Now for the psychological aspect:
Warrior Elixers have many positives consisting of; Used as a time measurement of a training spot, Cannot be dispelled, Lasts full 8 minutes before needing to be re-cast, and saves you 20 SP

Dragon Blood on the other hand, have positives which are listed as: Saves Use slot, Saves some money, Unlimited re-use, Saves your a trip to NLC to repot. ( The last one can be disregarded, seeing as how you'll have to go to NLC for Honsters and Supreme Pizzas anyways. )

Finally, the effect it would have on builds.
Pure Spear users are most likely out of all the ones listed above, to go with Dragon Blood, seeing as there are no other skills that are more important.
Pure Polearms come as second, but would need to sacrifice SP from Polearm Crusher.

Hybrids would be MUCH better off not getting Dragon Blood at all in my opinion. A couple problems will come up from choosing to max Dragon Blood:
-No Spear Fury for mobbing
-Lower level Sacrifice

So at the end of the day, the choice whether to max Dragon Blood draws from your Build and personal preferences.

Maplestory Warrior AP Distrubution

Posted on November 18, 2009 - 7:30 PM
Tagged as: Maplestory Accountmaplestory mesosmaplestory powerleveling
Here we will introduce the Maplestory Warrior AP Distrubution. May hope is that this article can help some people.
The most important AP to warriors is STR. STR determines how high a warrior's maximum damage is, and it also increases its minumum damage. STR is also needed to wear warrior equipment. This will be a warrior's primary AP (The one it adds to most).

The second most important AP to warriors is DEX. DEX doesn't increase warrior damage nearly as much as STR (Not even more minimum damage), but dex gives accuracy which allows warriors to train on monsters without missing.

There is something called capping DEX (Which is basically not adding anymore DEX once it reaches a certain amount) to add more STR to maximize one's damage, but I will mention that later in the guide. You will be adding enough DEX to get maple stroy mesos enough accuracy to hit the monster you are training on 100% of the time (Keep in mind equipment gives dex/acc as well), while the rest goes into STR, meaning you should do some research on how much accuracy the monster you plan on training on needs at the level you plan on going to it. When creating a warrior, I recommend rolling a 4 int and luk unless you are rich enough to be lazy about it and then reset.

Dexless : 4 Dex - Add none to Dex and pump all to STR.
Low Dex : Up to 60 - Follow the 2 Dex 3 Str until level 30 (for a maximum of 60 Dex) Lower Dex means stopping earlier than 30.
Regular Dex : Up to 80 - Follow the 2 Dex 3 Str until level 30 (for 60 Dex), then switch to 1 Dex 4 Str until 50 (for up to 80 Dex). Lower than 80 Dex means stopping earlier than 50.

The idea really is to follow the standard 2 Dex 3 Str build until you reached your desired Dex cap (with the exception of Dexless in which you don't actually add anything but pump to STR). Of course there are other ways to do the build like 1 Dex 4 Str to maximize damage early on. However, the traditional build has always been 2 Dex 3 Str as this will ensure that you can hit pretty much all training monsters during those levels.

How to Earn NX Cash For MapleStory

Posted on November 17, 2009 - 8:04 PM
Tagged as: Maplestory Accountmaplestory mesosmaplestory powerleveling
Maplestory is a MMORPG (Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game), Nexon runs and maintains the game and its services. Maplestory if free to play and free to download, making it a very popular game among teenagers. Maplestory has a heavy focus on community interaction, including friends, guilds, social events, competitions & co-op style party quests. Maplestory currently has over 4million registered users in the US, with 50million players worldwide.

While free to play, Maplestory includes a "Cash Shop" where real money can be traded for "NX Cash" or "Nexon Cash". Which can be traded for helpful in-game items, such as clothes, pets, stores, experience cards or a cool effect. NX cash requires either a Paypal account or a credit card. But recently there are several new ways to get your hands on the much desired in-game currency. These means have sprouted up due to the average age of players falling into the mid-teenage category, who don't have access to either of these mediums.

There are several legal ways to earn NX Cash for doing surveys and paid-to offers. PrizeRebel & GamingLagoon are currently the leading trustworthy sites. This has also caused more criticism on Nexon as it has resulted in lots of people being scammed from other mock websites, word of warning to all: research and check for proof before joining one of these programs for yourself. So far I personally have received NX Cash from PrizeRebel, GamingLagoon and NxDaily, so i can vouch for them.

Nexon has received criticism for its lack of availability of NX towards its audience, A KTTV investigative report showed that the game could be addicting and costly. Cases related solely to MapleStory where children stole their parents' credit cards or PayPal accounts to buy NX cash. Nexon quickly responded by allowing easier access to "Maple Points" which are similar but are earned by players in events or selling in-game items to others. Pre-Paid Nexon Game Cards are also now sold at popular stores in many countries. For more info related to cash items, visit maplestory-online: http://www.maplestory4mesos.com

The Cash Shop is often updated weekly to monthly to keep things fresh, be warned that most items expire after 90days. Nx Cash and items are tied to the account it was purchased on, they are however shared between characters on that account.

Start earning your free and easy NX Cash, check out my blog with all the helpful tips, info and proof. Drop by and give me a comment and tell me about your favourite cash shop item as well.

Maple Story Bowman Guide - A Bowman Guide for Choosing Your Maple Story Character

Posted on November 16, 2009 - 8:56 PM
Tagged as: Maplestory Accountmaplestory mesosmaplestory powerleveling
The Bowman character class in Maple Story is a very fun class to play with. They can render damage upon their enemies from afar with their bows and crossbows. They are able to knock foes back with each attack while delivering powerful blows on them.

As a Bowman in Maple Story, you will receive powerful multi-fire attacks and you will be able to kill enemies without even being near to them.

The Pros of using a Bowman as your character class in Maple Story are as follows:

1. A Bowman can render high damage output to the enemies.

2. They can attack their enemies from a distance without having to go near to them.

3. A Bowman is a very uncommon class, and their Weapons and Armours are usually cheaper in most cases.

4. They possess knock back ability.

And the Cons of using your Bowman character in Maple Story are as follows:

1. A Bowman is guilty of inflicting unstable damages upon the enemies, until his job advancements.

2. They are unable to melee attack their enemies.

3. A Bowman takes a long time to level until their second and third class advancement in the game.

4. They do not have high HP or high MP levels as compared to the other character classes such as Warriors and Magicians in Maple Story.

If you hate fighting up-close with the enemies like what a Warrior character in Maple Story does, it can be quite exciting to be a Bowman, watching and inflicting damages upon your enemies from a distance!

Donald Lim is a Maple Story game enthusiast. Along the process of learning how to play Maple Story better, he chanced upon the web site of a professional Mapler, John. He managed to convince John to write several Maple Story Guides for new and seasoned Maplers, and so Maplestory4mesos was created. Ways to Get and Use a Maplestory Private Server

Posted on November 15, 2009 - 8:15 PM
Tagged as: Maplestory Accountmaplestory mesosmaplestory powerleveling
In Maplestory, there are over 5 different default servers which any public user may use. Of course this is going to vary by version and language of the game. These servers are all completely public, in that, Nexon is the owner and manager of all of these servers. The players have very little control of customization of these servers, because they're open publicly and the game company is the owner. GM's are assigned by the owner, not by friends and other characters in the game. In a public server, you have very little amount of control, Nexon Cash is expensive and hard to get, so are mesos, and leveling is much harder than in private Maplestory servers.

Maplestory private servers are privately owned outside of the Nexon company. Nexon does allow for this, as their game client is customizable so long as you have a server to host the customized version of the game on. The owners of these servers are responsible for all of the maintainence, customization, and management of the server. GM's will be assigned by these players, and it's usually much easier to become a GM on a private server than it is on a public server due to less traffic and more new players needing help from a GM like yourself.

These private servers have many different benefits and bonuses. Most of these private servers now have a "warper" which makes it extremely easy to travel. You can simply click the green trade button at the lower left hand corner of your screen and you'll be warped to the free market. At the free market, there normally is another warper who will take you to any town in the game, and in most cases to any boss in the game.

Not only is travel easy, but just about every other aspect of the game is easy on private servers in most cases. Experience rates are set by a multiplier of anywhere to 5x to 10,000x. Leveling gets crazy when on your first kill, you hit level 20. This makes hitting those other jobs a snap. Perhaps you really don't plan to permanently or exclusively play on a private server. A private server is a great place to test classes of characters, items, nx purhcases, and just about anything else in the game since you can obtain it all much faster than in a public Maplestory server.

Meso drops are typically much, much higher on these servers as well. The meso drops are mutlipled the same way, anywhere from 5x to 10,000x. It's nice when you're killing green snails that drop several thousands mesos when you need to get something expensive. In fact, almost all expensive items on public servers can be obtained extremely easily on most private servers.

Drop rates are also increased dramatically, however the greatest multiplier I've seen has been 100x. This is great though! Drop rate multipliers greatly increase your chances of finding rare items from monsters, and can be a great money maker later on. I love this because it makes finding rare items a snap, even if you're just looking for a specific item you can use.

Now, on to how to get these private servers. Almost all private servers require version .55 of the game to run. Firstly, download version .55 from this location. freewebs.com/maplestorychaos/download.htm. Make sure to NOT run the game after installing this, as you don't want the autoupdater to run.

After downloading this patch, it's as easy as searching for the version of private Maplestory you want to run. Simply search yahoo for private maplestory servers, and check them out. Download their client, and place it in your Maplestory folder and run it!

Maplestory Hermit Build Guide

Posted on November 13, 2009 - 8:27 PM
Tagged as: Maplestory Accountmaplestory powerlevelingmaplestory mesos
There is a hermit build guide. If you want to play a hermit in MapleStory, just read the following info.Hope it's useful for you.
Firstly, what to do with our advancement point? Some people say put it in Avenger, or some people say put it in Shadow Partner. Personally, I put it inShadow Partner. Why? Level 1 Avenger is useless, though this is too, in a way.Either way, you wont use it, so just go with it.
The first skill I recommend getting a piece of is Flash Jump. This is a great skill, the best skill to use with only one point in it, and with that one point it'll still be worth it. I love Flash Jump. It's a wonderful Skill. It's not only useful, but it's fun. I recommend it.

If you don't want to waste your time and 6 Skill Points getting a flashy fun skill, go with Shadow Partner, and just max it as soon as possible (which turns out to be level 80).

After this, I recommend Avenger (and 1 Flash Jump if you haven't already done so). Avenger kicks some serious butt. Honestly,

I've done astounding damage with it, at only level 11. (8000+, without Shadow Partner, on only 4 targets). It's an excellent skill. For the love of god, get it, you wont regret it. Unless of course you like being a weak sissy girl.

Now from here on out, it's pretty much your call. I'd say it'd be smart to go and max Flash Jump. At level 20 this skill is pretty sweet. Then it's all up to you. I do have to say one thing: Don't waste your points on Shadow Meso! It's useless, don't waste your time and Maplestory Mesos on it unless it's only one point, which you might as well do, since you'll run out of stuff to put points into. Then go back and max Drain (or booster, whatever you didn't do before).

maplestory mesos - Maple story Warrior Guide

Posted on November 10, 2009 - 7:58 PM
Tagged as: Maplestory Accountmaplestory powerlevelingmaplestory mesos
Be you a newbie to the Maplestory game, you must get familiar with Warrior. It is important for you to acquaint yourself with Maplestory game go all out. Now we will make a full content of Warrior in order to help you find a shortcut to the game. Let us get down to it.

More often than not, Warriors use brute strength to take down foes. Of all the classes, Warriors are the only class that fight melee during their first and second jobs. They are easily the most powerful melee attackers in later levels.

In the game, Warrior possesses the most HP and the greatest defense due to their powerful armor. Coupled with their high attack, warriors become very powerful. The horrible accuracy is their greatest weakness. While Bowmen can hit boss monsters 40+ levels above them, Warriors will have trouble hitting foes at the same level unless they sacrifice their strength for dexterity or scroll their equipment to provide additional accuracy. For example, a level 25 Archer could hit an Iron Hog at pig beach despite it being 17 levels higher. However, there's a possibility of the monster having very high avoid ability, thus making it harder to get decent damage. Usually, when your accuracy and maplestory account level isn't enough to match the level and avoid ability of the monster, you either get miss or damage. In the same way, their poor mobility causes training difficulties in terms of speed. As usual, Warriors use upgrade scrolls to add speed to their equipment so that they can move faster and increase their training rate as a result. Warriors have the choice of becoming Spearmen, Pages, or Fighters at level 30.

Dragon Knights can learn abilities such as Dragon Roar in the third job, as well as Elemental Charges for Knights and Combo Attacks for Crusaders. Due to the large damage to opponents at round level 50 and onwards, people make a decision to become Warriors. However, there are some social issues to warriors. For example, in "Kerning City PQ" for levels 21-30, warriors are looked at as being weak, and are usually not recruited into the party quest. Yet Spearmen are chosen at around level 40+ for Ludibrium PQ, for their ability to Hyper Body, which temporarily increases HP and MP for a whole party. Pages are looked at as a minority. In case of Fighters, the special skills and maple story Spearmen, they don't possess the raw power, required being a powerful character. This is why people choose not to become a page. Their only advantage are the powerful skills at around the third job advancement, but many Pages do not make it this far.

HP Warrior is another band of Warriors. Only do these Warriors increase their Hit Pints, not their Strength and Dexterity, which means that they have around 10,000 HP at level 30 and the job advancement. Due to the high of Strength and maplestory mesos Dexterity, it can be very monotonous to get to level 30. If HP Warriors become Spearmen or Fighters, they possess a new skill called "Power Guard." This means that up to around 30 percent of damage dealt to the warriors is returned to the monster that dealt it. Owing to the large amount of HP, this is a huge advantage which means that low level HP Warriors can take on monsters that are about level 70 to 120 around level 40. HP Warriors take far longer than any other job advancement to train and become strong, and that is why most people choose not to take this route.
