Purity is said to have made a comeback, and what better way to express your vow for purity than with precious purity rings. With popular young celebrities proclaiming their vows to stay pure until they get married, namely the Jonas Brothers, Miley Cyrus and Jordin Sparks, purity rings have gained the spotlight and becoming a popular choice for a good majority of teenagers.

Purity rings are also called chastity rings. Most of the time, these types of rings have sayings that are engraved in them to help remind and encourage the wearer about his promise to himself. Some of the common sayings include, “True Love Waits,” and “One Love One Love.” Wearing purity rings came about during the 1990s where it was used to encourage young people from engaging in premarital sex. Even until today, they are still considered as popular and still used by most people.

Chastity rings are usually worn on the ring finger of the left hand by a person who has decided to commit to purity until marriage. Other times, they are worn as necklaces around the neck. Despite the influence of movies and television, the concept of chastity is slowly gaining popularity again. Teens and kids who want to showcase their individuality and commit to their faith or simply just decided to remain celibate until marriage will find having purity rings as a good way to get their message across. This will separate them from their peers who freely give into sex without much thought of the possible consequences.

Purity rings are made to be worn by both men and women. They are perfect for letting people know about your commitment and reminding yourself about your vow to celibacy. Most people, when they hear the term “purity rings,” the initial reaction would be a person abstaining from sex. However, there are actually different kinds of promise rings.

Some women and men, who were sexually active at a young age, opt to wear a purity ring to signify a “second virginity” promise. Most of them use this to remind themselves that they did once cross the mark, now they want to set it right and wait for the right person. It may not be possible to change what a person has done in the past, but it is possible to pick up the pieces and start again.

Another kind of promise ring is one worn to signify abstinence from substance abuse or drugs. People who have suffered from bouts of alcoholism or drug issues wear these rings to remind themselves to be sober and to keep away from instances that might temp them to go back to their problems. It’s not just alcohol and drugs, it could be any other addicting habit like gambling or food addiction and other sexual addictions that individuals are facing.

Purity rings have definitely made a pronounced return these past few years. No matter what reason the person has for wearing such rings, it is still a good thing. Assuming that the intentions are good and pure, wearing purity rings are the best way to signify that you have overcome and still fighting to overcome your addictions. It is the best way to conquer hurdles in today’s life.
