It was a good year for music and these are my favorite albums of 2007:

1 Wilco: Sky Blue Sky
These guys get better with age, check out the guitar playing on Impossibly Germany.

2 Kings of Leon: Because Of The Times
Leon's boys have grown up well, On Call would make daddy proud.

3 The White Stripes: Icky Thump
The White duo continues to innovate and sound fresh. Catch Hell Blues is a romp.

4 Radiohead: In Rainbows
Some of us have heard these tracks in their live shows, but comes together nicely. Weird Fishes/Arpeggi shows why so many try to emulate.

5 Arctic Monkeys: Favourite Worst Nightmare
Get off your arse and move. 505 shows some range.

6 The Hold Steady: Boys And Girls In America
Masterful tales of hard drugs and hard girls. Chips Ahoy rocks.

7 The Arcade Fire: Neon Bible
The canadians can somehow sound like Springsteen or the Smiths. No Cars Go is somewhere between.

8 Cold War Kids: Up In Rags
Though released at the end of 06, not appreciated until 07. Hang Me Out To Dry put em on the map.

9 Elliott Smith: New Moon
Giving life post-mortem. Pretty Mary K proves why Lennon would be proud.

10 Black Rebel: Motorcycle Club Baby 81
A newer sound to the rootsy bluesy band. Weapon Of Choice got some airplay.

11 Wolfmother: Wolfmother
The Aussie rockers invoke Sabbath and a new spin on 70s metal. However Apple Tree sounds like Jack White sits in.

12 Iron & Wine: The Shepherd's Dog
Amazing song writers, Pagan Angel and a Borrowed Car proves this.

13 Spoon: Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga
A break out album, You Got That Cherry Bomb blends genres nicely.

14 Dr. Dog: We All Belong
Great, cohesive album - check out Old News.

15 Band Of Horses: Cease To begin
I love their sound. Is There a Ghost in the machine?

16 Ryan Adams: Easy Tiger
Wonderfully back in his alt-country comfort zone. Everybody Knows Ryan is a living legend.

17 Rilo Kiley: Under the Blacklight
Jenny and boys take on many sounds and pull it off. Silver Lining feels good.

18 The Shins: Wincing The Night Away
The Okey’s sound like the brothers Wilson. Phantom Limb evokes the 60s.

19 Eddie Vedder: into the wild
Eddie has a good leg to stand on. Rise shows some mandolin chops.

20 PJ Harvey: White Chalk
PJ continues to recreate with When Under Ether.

Inspired by a fellow audiophile friend I'm going to attempt to make monthly music suggestions. My tastes know little genre boundaries and hopefully that will come through in my posts.

Radiohead continues to innovate; Spoon's recent release is worth a good listen; the Cold War Kids take on a old Sam Cook classic proves some white boys got soul; Mark Lanegan finds yet another fitting home for his whiskey-soaked breath in the Soulsavers; Rogue Wave applies some nice California sounds to Lake Michigan; and Shout Out Louds and Dr. Dog give their props up to REM. Hope you like:
