Sometimes I get tired of the standard "Top 25 Most Played" list and I hate skipping through a ton of songs when I put my iPod on shuffle. Occasionally, I like to turn up some gems that I haven't listened to in a little while... and still intersperse favorite songs of the moment. This would be my own personal dream radio station. I found an article on creating a playlist for this a long time ago and I can't even remember where it is anymore. But these are the basic steps to follow:
1. Create a smart playlist and name it "Core". Check "match any of the following rules". I created rules according to the genres that I would want to play on my personal radio station. So each of the rules would say "Genre contains Rock", "Genre contains R&B", and so on and so forth.
2. Create another smart playlist that pulls up good songs you haven't played very recently. Name the playlist "Infuser". Check "match all of the following rules". Then, create these rules:
a. Play Count is less than 10
b. Rating is greater than Two Stars
c. Playlist is Core
d. Rating is not One Star (Allows unrated songs to appear)
e. Rating is not Two Stars (Once again, allows unrated songs)
f. Last Played is not in the last 4 weeks
Limit to 200 items seclected by random.
3. Create another smart playlist that adds current favorites. Name this one "Sprinkler". Check "match all of the following rules". Then, create these rules:
a. Last Played is not in the last 2 days
b. Rating is greater than Three Stars
c. Play Count is greater than 10
d. Playlist is Core
Limit to 200 items selected by least recently played.
4. Finally, create your own personal dream radio station by making another smart playlist. Name this whatever your heart desires. Check "match any of the following rules". Then, create these rules:
a. Playlist is Infuser
b. Playlist is Sprinkler
Limit to 100 items selected by random.
