Incorrect capitalization

Why does the website keep incorrectly capitalizing a few fields in this playlist, regardless if if I save it with auto-cap enabled or disabled?

Hey Teknojnky, if you uncheck the auto-cap feature at the very beginning (before you start entering anything), then you should be able to capitalize or not capitalize anything you want. It doesn't fix things or undo things after the fact. Basically what you see on the screen is what will appear on the screen. Hope that makes sense.

No, something is wrong. I can put a Temp in front of the 3 fields that get incorrectly capitalized, and then they wil have proper case. But if I remove the temp prefix, they revert to lower case. (updating the existing playlist of course)

edit:
I tried adding new lines with the same song/artists, and if I mispell the artist or title it capitalizes correctly, however something is wrong with:

Hallelujah - Jeff Buckley

Ben Folds Five

All 3 will be correct case when submitting, but will be lower case you reload the playlist.

It's something specific with those 3 names.

Hi Teknojnky,

It may be that you are selecting something that you have previously typed in the text field. That would explain why it works when you misspell something... and also why you are having trouble only with specific words.

At any rate, the auto-caps function works as described above... if you turn it off at the beginning it wont affect anything.

Just be sure that everything looks the way you want it to before submitting the playlist.

Sorry but that is not it, I know how windows 'auto-complete' type stuff works but that's not the case.

The auto-caps enable and disable *DO* appear to work correctly... however its only AFTER I submit and reload the playlist is the case incorrect.

To be perfectly clear, the case is correct when I submit (regardless if auto-cap is on or off), the case is NOT correct when the playlist is saved and reloaded.

a screenshot before submitting

and the playlist after submitting...

As you can see, Ben Folds Five now stays proper case (no idea why), but the first track does not, and the test tracks artist is lowercased when it was properly cased on submit.

Something is changing the case on the backend side, or on the renderer side.

Hey Teknojnky, thanks for your persistence! There was indeed a bug. There was already an entry in our system for Jeff Buckley's Hallelujah and it was all in lowercase so the site just assumed that was what you wanted despite what you typed. So we're going in to fix that entry in the database but we still need to rethink how to tackle this going forward. Thanks again from the FIQL gang for pointing that out to us.

No problem, it certainly wasn't a game breaker but glad it was figured out! :)

edit, and just for completeness sake, Air - Ben Folds Five is messed up, but it displays correctly with Brick - Ben Folds Five..

By this I'm assuming the case is saved track by track, so there may very well be other tracks with incorrect case (but I'm sure you guys realized that).

see updated playlist @ http://www.fiql.com/playlist/?id=10599

Yeah, there's going to be a fair number of tracks that have a similar problem. For the time being we're going to just fix them on a case-by-case basis, but we have a solution in mind that will hopefully address the vast majority of them.
