Biography
Since the age of three, when she picked up her grandmother's soap microphone and started singing into it, Leena Ingegneri has considered her destiny to be in music. A long-time pianist, Leena moved to Los Angeles several years ago to pursue a career in songwriting. This inspired her to expand her musical horizons, and she has recently added the guitar to her musical instrument list and started off 2007 by making Nashville, TN her new home. Leena was surrounded by music throughout her childhood. She vividly recalls watching home videos of herself and her father dancing around the living room to Lionel Richie songs. She adds, “I remember many times when
... [+]I would go into the living room, put on my Wilson Phillips tape and just sing and dance along. I’ll never forget the first time I realized I wanted to be a singer/songwriter. I was at my grandparents' house watching MTV, and Sheryl Crow’s ‘All I Wanna Do’ music video was playing. I wanted so bad to grow up and be Sheryl. I was in awe of this pretty lady, standing on a sidewalk, singing as she played her guitar."
The 24 year-old performed at the National Society of Collegiate Scholars’ 2002 induction ceremony at California State University, Northridge and had the song she performed captured in a music video by the CTVA department. Her very first gig was in the garage of a house that supported a non-profit group called "Songs and Flight", which was desigend to act as a place for artists to play and support all forms of music. She has since hit coffee shops and clubs around Los Angeles, San Francisco and Tucson.Recently, she served as music supervisor for a documentary project using all original music. In 2005, she was one of just twenty Southern California artists chosen for a promotional compilation CD, which was produced by the California State University, Northridge music industry studies department. For the past four years, Leena has shared her passion for music by offering piano lessons to children and has now extended her passion for teaching to adults as well.
Leena is working hard to write music that conveys important and meaningful messages to people all around the world. She has recently earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Music Industry Studies from California State University, Northridge, where she studied voice. In June 2005, she finished recording a four song EP, entitled "Test Drive", which was produced by Rudy Haeusermann (Deborah Gibson, Tina Turner). She is currently in the studio preparing for her full length debut.
