Locked Out - Crowded House @ Coachella 2007

Posted on July 12, 2007 - 3:12 PM
I recently discovered that Crowded House sings "Locked Out" - one of the best songs in the Reality Bites movie which to me defines Winona Rider's career.

It amazes me how Crowded House still performs with such energy and newness. As I'm watching the video (I put it on repeat all of yesterday) from a far and after the event, I am envious of those who were at the concert. It must have been an awesome show. If only they would perform in New York. *sign*

Amy Winehouse - alcohol induced music

I remember finding out about Amy Winehouse for the first time in one of those Metro or AM New York newspapers. Unlike other New York professionals who read the Wall St. Journal or NY Times on their train ride, I scan the free local newspapers starting with the entertainment section first. I believe there was a review on her album or recent performance in New York...debut in the U.S. It caught my attention that the reviewer specifically mentioned her performance getting better and better as she becomes more drunk and maybe even at one point falling into the crowd although that might be purely invented gossip on my part.

I first heard one of her songs on the Coachella site. They have a sample of 2-3 songs from most of the acts who wil be performing at the music festival in a couple of months time. Quite fittingly with the image I already have of her, the song title is "Rehab." No offense intended but she's basically a shapely white girl who sounds like a full-body church choir black woman. You can take a look for yourself from her SXSW. Although her voice is growing on me, as my fiance hits it on the spot, I think I am intrigued by the drunk performance. Any comments from having seen her perform live? Please do share.
