I agree with a lot of what you say concerning the current state of hip-hop. That said, the music you mentioned as not hip-hop is what it is, and the only way for the youth to learn any sort of history of hip-hop is if we teach them. On that note, this playlist is a great way to start. For a great trip through hip-hop history try reading Can't Stop Won't Stop by Jeff Chang if you haven't already. Good playlist!

theyre corporate slaves. once again, the roots of hip hop aren't in L.A. or some ritzy corporate office, but the streets. Hip hop ( a culture ) was born to talk about political/social issues not to promote ...um...stupidity? Jus call soulja boy and his type rap and it's allll good:) Awesome play list!
