New Years Parties are always difficult to plan and difficult sitll to gather everyone in the same place when people start to move away and develop new social groups around jobs, school, etc. My friend, Court had the great idea to host a party the day before instead; we were all available (and half of us still got together the next day for a fantastic new years celebration) and it was a truly great time. My job? Wine (as a wannabe wine connisseur in training) and music (as the one with the slick nano and budget ipod speakers). Here's a third of the songs that were included in my mega mix for ambiance, a little hip swiveling, and a lot of head swaying. My personal favorites for this kind of mood are Belle and Sebastian, Stars, The Decemberists, and Imogen Heap. This kind of music is supposed to highlight the feel of a room, not overpower it. If I do say so myself, I think this is a pretty good example of how to fulfill that need.
