Basically a twist of another playlist on this site called The Ego Trip. I added some songs, and took away some songs to make this list a bit more personable to me, and a whole lot more fun in my mind.
To start this playlist off, we have Thru Ya City by De La Soul. A great song, with a beautiful beat but my reason for picking it is the songs intro. Oh oh oh oh oh, and it goes on. The perfect way to enter a room and this song will make sure all eyes are on you.
We then move to the classic "Fame" by David Bowie. Whe else to sing about such a topic then a flamboyant rockstar who's known to everyone around. As much as it is an ironic look on the lifestyles of the rich and shameless it's great to just strut what you got to.
MC Hammer, need I explain this? "Can't touch this na na na na Can't touch this" it's the perfect taunt to those who aren't good enough to even look at the aura of awesomeness you expel around you.
Because when you're famous you gotta be badd. P Diddy tells us who's bad and why.
This is probably an eccentric pick but Venus in Furs by the velvet underground was actually a book written a loong time ago about S and M, coined the term masochism as well. Supposedly, S & M is all about dominating and subsiding, so I thought this maybe would be a good song for this list.
Pet Shop Boys are fabulous, great peice of synth, techno dance floor beats, that's just fabulous.
Some lines from Ziggy Stardust:
With God given ass
He took it all too far but boy could he play guitar
Making love with his ego Ziggy sucked up into his mind
Like a leper messiah
When the kids had killed the man I had to break up the band
Came on so loaded man, well hung and snow white tan.
David Bowie lusting for himself in his alter ego is pretty much as full of yourself as you can get.
Another weird pick is the flaming lips, yeah yeah yeah song. It asks the listener if they had all the power and the money in the world, would they take it away from everyone else. I know I would.
A song from the obscurity of the 90's is the one hit wonder (until their revival by the O.C.) is the smash hit Popular. It dedicates itself to all the jocks who got the cheerleading chicks and who's moms thought they were pretty nice catches. "Scary" shudder.
Another piece of techno/dance floor electronica is the model, like pet shop boys fabulous, both songs are about models and the beauty of sexiness. Because in reality, nobody cares how much personality you got babe.
Ohh la la by goldfrapp isn't exactly egotistic, neither of self loving guilt, it's sexual however, but it's assured voice of making pleasure last and good is enough to give you a feeling of this girl is exprienced and not afraid to show it. Rawr.
