In South Louisiana in the 90s, a new approach to hip-hop developed: the New Orleans Block Party. Artists like DJ Jubilee and Partners N Crime (PNC) made lasting impressions on teenagers and their songs inspired dances that we still do today. Other influential artists such as Young Bleed and UNLV also became popular during this time. The South's influence on hip-hop is undeniable and is still growing. Some of these songs are recent--but most importantly, the artists are all from the South! All of my friends know these songs, either because they grew up with them or because I play them so much! If you are from South Louisiana (Lafayette, Baton Rouge, Lake Charles, La Place, Carencro, etc., or especially New Orleans) or you went to LSU, you'll remember these songs.
