You really didn't expect me to pass this one up, did you? Pitchfork released their Top 50 Albums of 2006 (http://www.pitchforkmedia.com/article/feature/40007/Staff_List_Top_50_Albums_of_2006), and it's quite an impressive list at that. Although there are some strange omissions (Neko Case), it hits a pretty good mix of the best indie music be it pop, rock, hip-hop, electronic, or something else or in between. Not too much to quibble with, considering the difficulty of putting such a list together. Nice pick at #1, too. I just finished downloading the rest of The Knife's Silent Shout earlier this week. I must say, it is everything a #1 should be: original, challenging, catchy, and very listenable.
Many will be familiar with many of these artists, albums, and tracks from several of my other lists. I've tried to mix it up
a bit from those lists, but thought many would want the free tracks from the Mixtape for this list too (and for some albums, those are the only tracks I'm familiar with!). Enjoy!
