(punk)-rock on Nice mix
Submitted by roxMYsox on Apr. 16, 2006

Nice Mix Actually, I think bands like Green Day and Weezer get it - the early punk bands (Ramones, Clash, Sex Pistols) had a sense of humor and were very toungue in cheek when referencing pop culture (just as the Violent Femmes are when referencing the bible). But it seems a lot of folks enjoy punk more for the hard rhythms than for the intelligence and sarcasm (the part that won me over years ago).

who ever said weezer is punk? since the ramones are included in this "Punk" mix, i thought i might just throw out there that the Ramones' original inspiration was what was considered "Pop" at the time. All they wanted was to be famous. When their original plan of playing Pop music didnt work out, they went "punk". well it worked, they are officially famous. Not every punk band is as pure as they sound. but who cares right? its all about the music blah blah blah.
