We won't trivialize the sides as good and bad, but just different points of view. Depeche Mode and XTC take a very overt position in questioning God's benevolence or even existence. Contrast that with U2, who regularly celebrate God in their music. Then there is REM, Midge Ure and The Police challenging, yet looking for guidance. Lastly, there is the bizarre. Cake cracks me up and I had to include the Mermen just for the song title.
