Both saddened and excited, I decided to make him a mix showcasing piano used in different ways in rock music. I tried including both gems from classic & glam rock as well as some modern artists. My friend came from a classical background so I tried to disperse easy to digest songs among the more intense ones. This mix also shows my optimism for the revival of one of the most important instruments that birthed rock'n'roll. [-]

Thanks. You obviously put a lot of thought into this! I grew up listening to my sister play a lot of classical music on the piano so i especially like to hear piano in different ways.

My classical background is lacking, but I do know that rock is always better with a piano. This is fact.

This takes me back to a conversation I had once with a CBC radio DJ on the Brand New Waves show about great piano solos in 'rock' music (for lack of a better word). The topic then, as now, was The The's Uncertain Smile. For me, the best piano in rock ever. Although I give a lot of your picks mucho credit. The initial strains on Life on Mars? and the thumping beat driving Bennie and the Jets are classics.
