There's no doubt that many songwriters often namecheck their musical forefathers in their songs, pay tribute to fallen heroes, or stick in a barbed jibe at an ex-bandmate or rival. So while there are plenty of songs that reference other artists, I started composing a list of songs where the 'other artist' is in the name of the song itself (ok, I cheated a bit with Frank Black's "I Heard Ramona Sing", which is of course about the Ramones). Most of them are pretty obvious, but it should be noted that Madness' "The Prince" is an ode to ska legend Prince Buster, not Prince Rogers Nelson.
