What better place to start with the latest incarnation of the 'virtual mixtape' than with actual mixtapes from "back in the day." Most of mine are lost to posterity between Vancouver and Finland, but I've found a couple from the archives, circa 1996. The first is titled 'Calamitous Clamour' (the actual pretentious title of the cassette). It's certainly filled with sufficient post-breakup student angst ("I Can't Be With You", "Baby's Gonna Cry") and a mark of my obsession with Echobelly's Sonya ("Dark Therapy" and "Atom" ending each side). A bit dark and doleful dose of mid-90s alternative/indie, but also pretty sweet stuff overall.
