Having ealier catalogued a few of my old mixtapes, I had almost given up on finding any more. Most given away to friends, lost or given away. But while cleaning up an old cupboard today I came across the motherlode: test and error printouts of liner notes for a bunch of mixtapes I no longer have! Here's the first. Like most of the others, probably circa 1997 as I moved from Canada to Finland. Not sure where the title came from, but the cover has a perplexed cartoon alien, so probably the titled followed the art.
Content-wise its a typical mix of what would then have been called US "college radio" alternative and Brit-Pop. Maybe the only clunker that doesn't really hold up is The Mission's cover of Blondie's Atomic. What were they (and I) thinking? In a do-over I'd substitute the vastly superior original, or at least the better cover by Sleeper fromt the Trainspotting soundtrack.
