FIQL Pick The Best Underground Rap/Hip-Hop
Mainstream rap has lost its roots. So in search for real, raw, gritty beats and lyrics, the only thing that comes to mind is UNDERGROUND RAP. In order to restore the roots of rap and bring back what Wu-Tang Clan calls "those good ol' days", mainstream radio rap must be taken over by artists like Big L, Atmosphere, Crooked I, Gang Starr, De La Soul, Young Blaze, etc. Bump or comment if you want to see a change in rap today.

You left some good ones out, The Visionaries, Surreal and the Sound Providers, Lightheaded, Binary Star, Living Legends, Non Phixion and TYPICAL CATS! Difinitive Hip Hop! But Big L is the most influential artist to have lived, if you ask me, he would have taken hip hop to a whole new level if he would have lived longer. RIP...

Ey.. I just joined for one purpose.. you're list is amazing.. just old school.. the underground is alive and well with new artists all the time! Kansas City has an amazing scene.. you must include skatterman and snug brim.. kutt calhoun.. tech n9ne (the real most known unknown.. not three 6 mafia).. there is also maino.. flatline.. mac lethal.. trae.. mannnny more.. ya just gotta dig for em!

My list is a bit better. But you have good taste
Submitted by faay on Apr. 14, 2009

It's a good list but some of these are in no way underground. Immortal Technique although not mainstream isn't underground. Nas isn't underground by any stretch of the imagination. Big L isn't underground he's just dead.

And please throw some K'naan and Mos Def on there
Submitted by rocknroll0 on May. 28, 2009

Yak Ballz, Cage, More Aesop Rock, Ghostface and all of them if u consider them underground, Eyedea And Abilities, Mos Def really belongs on there have you heard the Estatic? sooooo goood. Indie Hiphop is alive Commercial is 6 feet deep.
