When my daughter was about 4 years old I slowly weaned her off of 'children’s' music and started to try to shape her taste in music by making child appropriate cd's for car trips. Actually, that's a total lie....I wasn't technically trying to do anything as honourable as 'shape her taste in music'...more like if I had to listen to another children’s record I might actually vomit and then loose what was left of my parental sanity. These songs are what I would consider a collection of child appropriate adult music so that parents don't get as close to the point of insanity as I got. Some are a bit older, some are a bit newer but most of them are still enjoyed by my now eight year old daughter today and she can ask to play them by song title and artist. (That's my girl!) Compilations of child appropriate music can also make great gifts for other people's children and seem to be especially cherished by girls between the ages of 8 and 12 (as long as the parents approve).
