August 2008: I made this for a number of little reasons.
"When I wrote this song, it er, it meant a lot to me and it meant a lot to my friends and... I guess it was celebrating some things that when you're young you celebrate, and er, getting older now I don't, I don't know if I would celebrate some of this stuff as much as I did, or realise how particular a lot of these things are to being young. A lot of the time I don't feel young any more. It feels strange to play this song, I guess. I'ma play it anyway this time. This song goes out to Luke and Annabelle, it's called Soco Amaretto Lime."
- Jesse Lacey, Brand New- I've been listening to The Kook's "Naive" and Lily Allen's cover constantly for about a year now and I've been wanting to make a mix with them both on for ages.
- Stupid The Academy Is... and stupid "About A Girl" has been stuck in my head since I heard it two days ago.
- Belle & Sebastian have far too many good songs and I'm having to leave a billion of them off the sampler I'm making. :(
- This Is Ivy League = ♥_♥
But mostly it's because the line
you're just jealous 'cause we're young and in love from "Soco Amaretto Lime" has been stuck in my mind for months, and Jesse Lacey's introduction for the live acoustic version I've included makes me melt, and I've been wanting to put it on a mix since I first heard it. Plus, I rediscovered
my muxtape yesterday (check it out if you want to listen to this playlist!) and decided to have a bash at making shorter mixes (this originally started off with twenty-one tracks, heh). It all seems to have come together quite nicely.
